Land and Building:

Land as well as building has unique role in Vastu/Feng shui. Out of these two Land is important than building. Qi is accumulated on the land before it enters the structure. Land as such works as a bowl which attracts the Qi.

When this is the importance of land then land or plot must have proper shape, Square or Rectangle, i.e. the four corners with 90 degree angles, to get the best result of land. The land or plot must have nine palaces when Lou Shu grid overlays on the map of the plot & structure. This way it will generate the maximum and balanced Qi for prosperity and progress.

Direction and Location

Qi or Energy of plot or structure should be tapped. Directions / orientation should use to fine tune the effectiveness of individual. Individual should locate the sector with positive Energy or Qi & oriented to one of his/her positive directions (Life Gua Method). If nothing works out then it is most important to consider Location than Direction of plot.

External Key Factors:

Three external factors which are important while finalizing the Plot/Structure

These are Mountains, Water and Front door of the structure.

Internal Key Factors:

The three key factors which are very important for the structure are Main Door, the Kitchen and the Master Bedroom.

Marking the Locations Plot/Structure:

“Eight Pie Wedge” chart should be used to analyze the plot/Structure. This is used to place a specifically           Element in the corner. A line should be drawn from upper left corner to the bottom right corner and second line from upper right corner to bottom left corner. This way the unit will be divided into four parts with 90 degree angles. Now find the North (0 Degree) on the floor plan and start drawing line 7.5 degrees from this point. Continue drawing lines at 15 degree intervals and we will get 24 wedges or mountains. See the pictures.       

                                        

Four Celestial Animals are:

• The Black Tortoise
• The Green Dragon
• The White Tiger
• The Red Phoenix

While standing in the entrance of structure and looking out the White Tiger will be on the right side of the property and the Green Dragon will be on the left side of the property. The Black Tortoise will be behind and the Red Phoenix stands on the front of you.

Missing and Extending Areas:

Missing or sunken area and Extended or protrusion areas give different types of results depending on the shape of the plot. Effect of Qi depends on which corner is missing or extended. All nine corners have different effects. Overlay the Luo Shu grid on the map of the structure and it will show which corner is afflicted. With this it is also shown who (person of family) will be most affected.  For example if south corner is missing or protrusion then the youngest daughter will be most affected. As Fire is the element of this corner if corner is extended then the role of Fire is enhanced or if it is missing then role of Fire is reduced. Then this should be controlled either with Wood Element or Earth Element. This can also be controlled by Colors also.

Element cycle and Five Phases:

In vastu / Feng Shui there are three element cycles. These are:

Production Cycle or Enhancing Cycle: here each element enhance or produce the other element like Water produce Wood, Wood produce Fire etc. the Production Cycle is a natural, positive enhancing of energies. This is also called Forward Cycle.

Next is the Reducing Cycle or Weakening Cycle: this reverse of Production Cycle. Here the Element Cycle reduce the energy or weaken the energy like Metal weaken Earth, Water weakens Metal etc.

The third is called Controlling Cycle. Here each phase is controlled by the phase that is two positions in front of it. As Metal controlled by Fire, Water is controlled by Earth etc. This cycle is somewhat aggressive cycle, opposition type of interaction.

While dealing with Vastu / Feng Shui re member that direction and location is very important. Direction is the degree which the structure faces. As the plot or structure must be divided into 24 mountains which contains 15 degree each. Location is where the structure is standing on the plot. Then Sector or Palace are used to indicate the location at micro level. Facing and Sitting indicates direction of the structure or plot. Direction and location are very important to harness Qi or Energy within the plot, structure or environment.

Nine Palace Grids:                                             

Plot and structure should be demarcated by Nine Palace Grid which is 3X3 squares, also called Lou Shu. While facing the plot or structure this grid is overlays on it and then look the each corner of palace, if missing or protruding                        .

To create the nine palace grid, take the facing direction of the structure. This is taken while standing in the front door and looking outside. Then place your nine palace grid on the floor. If garage is attached to the building only then it should be included otherwise not. Now you can see missing section or extended section of the structure. Again starting with sector that corresponds to the center to the facing side of the house, mark with compass direction in the grid. Now we will find that house is Facing South then the opposite of it mark a line and find that North will be Sitting sector.

It is a misconception among people that the line in the grid represents the boundaries and Qi is affected or follow these invisible lines. Whereas the Qi follow the actual walls on the structure and not the simple line on the map.

Lo Pan:

In feng shui Lo Pan is very important tool. Lo Pan is 24 Mountain Ring. This compass shows 24 direction which are equally divided into 15 degree degrees (157.6-172.5, 172.6-187.5 &187.6-202.5) each. So this is divided into 3 sectors (S1, S2 & S3) of each direction with polarity Yin and Yang. As South is the main direction and this is divided into three sub direction which is of 15 degree each. And out of these three sub directions one is Yang and two Yin. This yin and yang represent the duality which is present throughout.

Whenever we study any direction we will have to see which location is being studied. That is more important because due to yin and yang position.

If we look above we will find that south has three sub sectors (S1, S2 & S3) with degrees (157.6-172.5, 172.6-187.5 &187.6-202.5) and Polarity (Yang, Yin & Yin). If there is problem in south sector generally the remedies are done for whole sector. This may bring relief but it is not up to the mark. No doubt south is afflicted but for concrete and authenticated remedy, one must see which angle is more afflicted. Whether it is S1, S2 or S3. If S1, which is Yang, then it is towards South-East, which is Yang, and if it is on S3, which is Yin, then it is towards South-West, which is Yin, the remedies depend while taking care of S1 or S3 direction and degrees.

To enhance the south sector energy (Fire), the elemental cycle wood increases, enhances fire. Wood should be placed in this sector so that fire energy can be improved, enhanced. South is afflicted; first check which sector is it, S1, S2 or S3. These three sectors can be improved but how much quantity and quality of wood element to be used, this is very very important.

Comparing S1 to S3 sector, S1 needs lesser the Wood element than the S3 sector. When stars are moving in palaces then quantity and quality plays a big role. In S1 small wood will do where as in S3 big wood requires.

Again checking North-East sector which is NE1, NE2 & NE3 with degrees (22.6-37.5, 37.6-52.5 & 52.06-67.5) with polarity (Yin, Yang & Yang), if it afflicted with positive energy that is if it extended corner, the energy will have to be controlled. First check which corner is afflicted NE1 or NE3. If NE1 then small metal can compensate where as NE3 then the quantity of metal have to be increased.

While going thru any corner of plot or structure, first check the degree, polarity and sector after then one should go for remedies.

To recommend remedies one must go thru the 24 mountains, only then one can get the best result. Every step depends on it.
